Encouraging. Darryl Issa, the powerful new GOP House Oversight Committee Chair, has introduced this bill in the past, but with the change in party control, he's got a lot more clout this time around. Issa is proposing replacing the green card lottery's annual green card allotment with a new green card category for US-educated graduates in the science, technology, math and engineering fields. Frankly, the lottery is a program that is always under attack and I'd rather see the program's numbers go to increasing either the family or employment categories. The antis have proposed in the past eliminating the program...

Today, I heard back from a senator and a congressman from New Jersey regarding the webfaxes that I had sent them. Here are a few things that I learnt
The associate in the Senator's office was not aware of this issue and the one in the congressman was only partially aware of it. If this is the situation of the associates who look after immigration with the lawmakers in NJ, where there are thousands of EB-GC aspirants, the situation might much worse in other states.
The associates in the lawmaker's office do take the effort to read through the faxes, thus making it effective to bring our issues to their attention.
Our WebFax application is working fine. Previously I never got replies to my web faxes. What might have helped is the fact that the web fax did have my complete contact information. This makes it more trustworthy in their eyes.
So I request all of you to send out WebFaxes to your lawmakers. It is free for you and takes only a couple of minutes. Once you have sent it, urge your friends also to do the same.
Stand up and be heard.

This is my third EAD renewal. My 485 is pending at NSC. I am in CA. All my previous EADs/APs etc were filed at NSC.
This time when my EAD renewal is filed (by my new attorney, in new company) I got receipt Number starting with MSC.
Who decides where to file MSC? What's the criteria to file at MSC? Shouldn't it be file at NSC?
Is this a mistake?
No it is not. It is the National Benefits Center receipt number. Mine got transferred from the TSC.

Until recently, travelers to the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Permanent Program have enjoyed seemingly hassle-free entry to the United States. If you hail from (or now hold citizenship in) one of 35 favored countries, the process is simple. Go online to a website, ESTA (Electronic System of Travel Authorization), answer a few questions, get a green light to proceed, purchase a round-trip ticket and hop on a plane with just your passport as your entry document. Sure you waive a host of procedural rights, but with the value of the dollar plummeting, the shopping bargains in the U.S. are...

Hi,
The company I am working for is filing for GC.
They have posted an ad,and all the mandatory work is done.
HR up here have received some resumes for this ad.
After reviewing these resumes, attroney says they may have to place a new ad, as they have recieved a resume which qualifies the position from a local person.
I spoke to my manager and he says the same thing. He told me he did not even interview the local guy who applied.
Is this the only way out of this position. Please advise.
Thanks,

Hello, could some one help to answer this question.
Can I work part time on EAD, while I-485 is pending, without loosing my status? What could be potential issues?
I want to go back to school and complete a master's degree.
Thanks

Hey guys,
If any one is a client of Cohen and Grisby and looking to appliy AOS now, have you heard anything from them asking for forms and docuements or when they will start submitting the applications.
I looked at their website and they haven't posted a thing, nor have they sent an e-mail, like they sent after the first July bulletin came out in June.
I was wondering if any one is in same situation as I am. By the way I already tried to reach them, but could not get through.
Thanks!!

Lets say, after getting EAD and AP and 6 months after filing for I-485, you want to switch jobs to another company but want to do an H1B transfer to a similar position. Do we still have to start the green card process from scratch to remain on H1B?

Hello,
I'd like to know can a dependent (not the prime applicant) on a pending 485 status, avail unemployment insurance, especially the extended benefits which are being given by Federal govt. to the states.
This is the latest from USCIS :
http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/New%20Structure/Press%20Releases/2009%20Press%20Releases/Oct%202009/public_charge_fact_sheet.pdf
it says, that unemployment compensation is not public charge.
Does it even apply to both standard unemployment insurance and the extended benefits.
thanks

While many are assuming that the public won't accept immigration reform during this recession, polling numbers tell a different story. America's Voice commissioned recent polling that shows firm support for CIR: Sixty-Five Percent of Respondents Supported Congressional Action on Comprehensive Immigration Reform in 2010. According to the December poll, 65% of voters prefer for Congress to take up the immigration issue this year rather than wait until later. Sixty-six percent of respondents supported comprehensive immigration reform before even hearing details of the plan. Support for reform continued to cut across party lines, with 69% of Democrats, 67% of independents, and...

Hi all,
I am a consultant working on H1B and my 3rd yr of visa expires in march 2011.
Im planning to file my GC through my current employer in EB2 category(As I have a masters degree) but have following queries :
1.My company is a small company with only 2 employees i.e. me and my manager.
If i do file my GC through such a company, whats are the pros and cons e.g. any RFE expected because its a small company considering that have already had an RFE when transferring my H1B to this company earlier.
2.Can I file my GC through a different employer say my end client or any other company while im working with my current employer?
3.Considering the above situations, what is the best option for me to file my GC at tis point of time?
Also filing my GC in EB2 category will help avid processing delays as per the current trend?
Please advise.
Thanks for your time.

Sid

but as far as the AD is concerned, an AD is for a position not for a person, if 1 AD satisfy the skill set and available position then one AD can work for multiple positions.
