This is specifically for those people who have never contributed but feel like contributing but for some reason hesitate to pull the trigger. For all such people who start a monthly contribution of $50 and promise (not to me or anyone else but themselves) to keep contributing for at least the next 6 months, I am going to make a one-time contribution of $50 for every such person. I have a modest upper limit, which I will disclose after the first 10 new contributors.
So people, Sept 18th is approaching fast and IV needs your contribution. Now is the time.
The only requirement is that the member has never contributed before and starts a $50 dollar recurring contribution. For every two new contributors I will make a $100 one-time contribution. Moderators may verify my contribution.
This is great thinking and wonderful initiative. It is a lesson how we all can be creative and help others motivate. It reminds of a story. There were two teams US and Japanese. They each were divided into two groups each and made to stand facing each other. There was a imaginary line drawn and the goal of each team is to convince their team members on the other side of the line to cross over. US Team were never able to convince their team members to cross over and move to other side.
Japanese simply said to their team members on other side.. If you cross over we will also cross over.. and they won. As simple as it may sound here is a classic example shown by Milind. You rock Milind.
And you make me feel proud in being associated with you in this struggle for our cause.
I am also in the drive for funds with my indifferent colleagues. See you in DC.

Many of these people are US educated atleast in part and are currently gainfully employed and contributing to this vibrant economy.
Unfortunately the current immigration policy is doing a great injustice to this group of individuals who have quietly and patiently been waiting their turn. Many have waited 5-10 yrs and are still awaiting their green cards. The current backlogs are ominous.
Many have organized into a grassroots organization called Immigration Voice and are planning a pro legal employment based immigration rally in Washington DC on Sep't 18th. We would appreciate coverage of this first of a kind event which puts the spotlight on a just cause which for far too long has gone ignored by our lawmakers.

How come observations made over years on 100's to 1000's of students are "unsubstantiated"? Of course you may want not to believe me; that is your prerogative, and so is writing my own experience mine.
raysaikat - You must be kidding by trying to prove that you have taught 1000s of Anna/Osmania University students & number of them are bad as you described. You started in 100s & are now talking about thousands and I am sure if this argument continues you would go to even higher numbers just for the heck of proving your point. After all, its a matter of pressing few keys on your keyboard....but what credibility does it has when there is no way to validate??
May be, as "NKR" pointed out, you have some bad impression about the Univs in certain region of India - looking at the list you provided!! Otherwise - Anna university is considered to be a top rated institute in south india esp., TN state. Osmania is also a very decent one (esp in Engg/comp sc). Both these universities are very famous for their ability to attract a lot of recruiters (All top indian companies + many MNCs as well). And here on this board, you just rule those out with a single word - Crappy!!

I agree. I think we can use this statement to show our plight to the media/congress. A doctor, engineer, lawyer, scientist, etc from Chindia have to wait for decades to get a green card (that too under EB-2 category). If we use this properly we might have some legislative change even in the absence of CIR.
Also, I read somewhere that Janet Napolitano recently signed something which granted deferred action for two years to widows and widowers of U.S. citizens-as well as thier unmarried children under 18 years old-who reside in the US and who were married for less than two years prior to their spouse's death.
I am sure something like this can also be done for us who have been waiting for years for our GC's.
