The annual Consumer Electronics Show kicks off this week in Las Vegas. This is the gadget wonderland I've attended for the last several years. Due to my father's illness, I decided to skip this year's show. But I'm avidly watching online for announcements of the year's best new innovations. The show is put on by the Consumer Electronics Association and they've recently launched "The Innovation Movement" which seeks to encourage public policies that foster innovation and promote prosperity. The movement embraces a lot of issues and I'm pleased to see liberalizing immigration policies in the technology sector among the issues...

No replies. So dropping idea of getting Business Credit Cards - perhaps it is not important at this stage.
Yes, I did get a business checkin card. Credit card, I guess, I can get only when the EIN number develops some history. Do you already have a business checking card?

Immigration Visa Attorney Blog Has Just Posted the Following:
Still not too late to apply for an H-1B (http://www.fongandchun.com/lawyer-attorney-1477281.html). New H-1B quota figures as of September 10, 2010:
Out of the 65,000 cases that can be approved for H-1B this year, 37,400 cases have been receipted by USCIS for the regular Bachelor's degree H-1B quota. This is up from 36,600 cases which were received since September 3, 2010.
Approximately 13,700 cases have been receipted by USCIS for the advanced degree H-1B quota, a slight increase of about 300 cases filed since September 3, 2010 when approximately 13,400 cases had been received.
October 1, 2010 is around the corner. People with newly approved H-1Bs will soon be able to begin employment. First time applicants can still continue to submit applications for H-1B status until the entire H-1B quota is exhausted. I'll keep you updated on the cap count, so check back soon. ---ecf

My h1-b is expiring in decemeber, i applied for renewal 4 months back but it is stuck in security check. I can apply for 485 as my 140 is approved.
1. if i apply for 485, then EAD can also go thur sec check?
2. after 240 days if EAD is not available what are my options?
3. I am planing to get married but cant bring wife on h4 as my h1 is not current, what are my options? if my 485 get approved or i use my EAD i wouldnt be able to bring her?

One of my friend got their Fingerprinting letter and the last name is misspelled. What should they do go ahead and take it to the FP office or call USCIS and get it corrected.

1. I am planning to work with a new employer on EAD. As i have heard in order to file AC21 the employer letter should present same job description as previous. I would like to know what are the other things we need to consider in order to be safe while filing AC21.
2. I requested my current employer to provide the copy of Labor certification that was filed for me. I received the following response from XYZ Company Inc., DOES NOT RELEASE COPIES OF THE LC, AS IT IS OUR APPLICATION WITH THE DOL FOR A POSITION NOT AN EMPLOYEE AND IT IS CONSIDERED PRIVILEGED AND CONFIDENTIAL.
How should I have to obtain the Job Code etc.,?

If the hospital (healthcare organization) is a non-profit body then they will not be subjected to the quota (I think). Maybe other members can validate this.

Hello all, with the August bulletin showing June 06 cut-off dates, I have the following questions for which I seek input form IV members.
1. Is it possible to apply for the GC, the second time, if one cancels his GC "without prejudice"?
2. If yes, is it possible to use the priority date of the canceled GC in the second GC application?
3. What are the points one should be aware in canceling GC "without prejudice"?

My friend John Lamb in Nashville blogs today about ICE's Hutto detention center where whole families are jailed while awaiting deportation. I'm reminded of Charles Dickens' tales of debtors prisons in Victorian England where "lawbreakers" who violated British laws relating to debt were jailed right along with their spouses and children. Hi,
I need some urgent advise. My wife has got a Biometrics appointment notice for 8th Jan. She is in India currently and scheduled to return on 24th Jan. We have already got the appointment rescheduled once (original notice was for 1st Dec). When we got it rescheduled we asked them to give us the next appointment after 1stFeb, but they ignored that part!
I wanted to know can I get it rescheduled again? Will it have any impact on her 485 application? Do I need to enclose any cover letter explaining why i need to reschedule? Any personal experiences with rescheduling the appointment more than once?

My employer has filed my labor certifications few weeks back. Is there a way I can track it online and know the status.
What information do I need to do that ? Whats the website ?
